TT 3 SGL Mini Panel M4 EL – Tripple Panel for Plate Carriers

This article was sponsored by Tasmanian Tiger. Now, for the 2024 season, comes this incredibly simple product from TT that I’ve been eagerly anticipating for a while: a placard with three elastic AR magazine pouches. Perfect for low-profile setups.

  • Perfectly suited for the TT Plate Carrier QR LC ZP.
  • It also fits plate carriers with loops or vertical hook slots.
  • Compatible with M4, Sig, AR15, Steyr AUG, Sig 55X, G36 PMAG, and similar magazines.
  • Three securely stitched magazine pouches made from elastic webbing.
  • Attaches with G-Hooks and hook Velcro
  • Size of the velcro: 23 x 13,5 cm
  • Elastic Pouches with a height of 12 cm
  • Weight of only 105 Gram

Made of just a few layers, this magazine pouch is extremely slim. It attaches to the plate carrier using G-hooks. The height of the hooks themselves cannot be adjusted, and the hooks are securely sewn in place. This pouch fits three AR-15 magazines. They can be easily drawn, but re-stowing typically requires the use of both hands. Empty magazines can also be inserted upside down into the pouches. 10-round magazines can also be stored. Even if fully inserted, they can be easily pushed up thanks to the elastic material. Of course, various other items can also fit in the pouches, allowing you to adapt the setup with fewer magazines. For example, pepper spray, a tourniquet, and a flashbang can easily be stored. Or you could store a loosely fitting Glock magazine, a flashlight, and a radio. The holding strength naturally depends on the surface and circumference of the item. The back is equipped with hook fastener and comes with a cover strip that adjusts the height to match the loop panel of the QR LC ZP plate carrier. On both sides, there are two loops each, allowing for additional securing of the flap if needed. Since the hook-and-loop fastener doesn’t reach all the way to the top edge, a small gap forms behind the placard. Especially with the low loop panel on the QR LC ZP, this creates some unused space where dirt can collect. However, this isn’t really a significant issue.

Easy modification for increased compatibility.

To make the panel compatible with other buckles, I made a small modification to a black panel. I opened the seam and extended the “straps” with hook-and-loop tape. Now, I can attach the interchangeable panel to other plate carriers as well.

Conclusion

This is definitely something for minimalists. Since magazines cannot be stowed with one hand, this placard is not a full replacement for classic magazine pouches in my opinion. However, it offers a very simple and low-profile way to carry three magazines, for example, on the **QR LC ZP plate carrier** from Tasmanian Tiger.
Compatibility
The panel is ideal for TT plate carriers that have the corresponding loops. For other plate carriers with vertical slots, it may also fit, but it can’t be guaranteed. With some webbing and a tri-glide buckle, you can easily add a loop to MOLLE plate carriers to hang the G-hooks. Or you can modify the panel as I demonstrated above 😉
Field of Use
In my opinion, this is a great magazine pouch for the range or for operations where you know you’ll need magazines quickly and won’t be trekking through the underbrush for long periods. So primarily for **Direct Action** and **shooting sports**. A dump pouch is a useful addition. Otherwise, it’s also practical for storing gear in a backpack.
Summary
A nice low-profile 3-mag front flap made of elastic webbing. Magazines or other gear are quickly accessible. However, due to the lack of retention loops, the gear isn’t super secure in the pouch, and the design makes magazines slower to stow. TT anticipated this and released the Universal Mag Pouch EL and Small Universal Mag Pouch EL this year, which are MOLLE compatible.
